PFC Minutes July 2020
Scopwick and Kirkby Green Playing Field Committee
Minutes of the meeting held on the 27th July 2020 at Vicarage Lane Playing Field Scopwick
1. Present: David (Chairman), Rosa, Jane, Neil, Mark and Jill Moran Parish Clerk.
Guy sent his apology.
David welcomed everyone to the meeting.
2. Financial Report.
Jane reported that the bank balance now stood at £7066.48. A cheque for £4432.98 had been issued to FCC Recycling as 3rd party contribution for the application to the Community Action Fund. The cheque had yet to be cashed.
3. Inspection Report.
Since the last meeting Jill had completed weekly visual inspections. It had been noted that the steps on the v-chain bridge in the trim trail were rotting. It was agreed that FCC should be asked to amend the funding application to include a replacement unit.
The perennial weeds had been sprayed and cleared from both bark areas whilst the park had been closed to the public. Thanks to Philip, Jane, Mark and family, Jill and Alex for their hard work.
The annual RoSPA inspection will take place in August 2020.
The group discussed the wording of notice to be posted on the field gate and the fence around the toddler play area. The notice based on an example circulated by the charity ACRE will advise users that the play areas are not monitored or cleaned and give advice on their use in the light of the coronavirus pandemic. Rosa agreed to print and laminate two notices.
4. Issues Considered.
(a) New Play Equipment
Four suppliers had now visited the playing field and submitted plans for new play equipment and detailed quotes. An application had been made to FCC Community Action Fund on the basis of the quoted costs. The application had been successful and the committee looked at detailed designs and specifications within the amount allowed by the funding body.
It was agreed that of the four alternatives the company Creative Play offered the best alternative; not only being competitively priced but offering substantial guarantees, comprehensive aftersales service, solid references including work completed locally and good innovative design. The committee considered a possible schedule of works, dealing with the two play areas separately over the next 6-8 months. The Clerk will ask them for a final quote to put to the funding body to obtain a funding agreement.
It was also decided to look at updating the goal posts and football area as a separate funding application.
(b) Fundraising
Due to the pandemic and the restrictions on use of the village hall it was decided that that Race Night will not take place in November but could possibly go ahead next Spring. It was considered that a suitable fund raising event could be organised to improve the football area using social media to arrange a competition. The Clerk agreed to look into alternatives and Mark to look at other possible sources of funding.
